President Joe Biden’s slate of confirmed and nominated cabinet picks offers up the worst of the Washington establishment. Biden’s cabinet is not only filled with D.C. swamp creatures, but there’s also a contingent of radical leftists. In trying to maintain his increasingly divided base, the President is managing to upset all sides of the political spectrum.
Unsurprisingly, the Biden cabinet epitomizes the return to the broken status quo that the American people rejected in 2016. Let’s start with the media-proclaimed “moderate” Judge Merrick Garland. Monday’s Senate confirmation hearing was yet another in a long line of Biden nominees who seemed woefully unprepared for questioning. On the issue of illegal border crossings, Garland claimed he “hadn’t thought” about whether they should remain a crime. Not a great look for the potential chief enforcer of federal law, particularly at a time where Biden’s open border policies are fueling a growing crisis for southern border communities.
Sticking with the woefully unprepared, let’s consider Department of the Interior nominee Deb Haaland. Haaland – a Green New Deal co-sponsoring radical leftist – would not only implement Biden’s anti-energy agenda, but would likely go further. An opponent of fracking, drilling, and the Keystone pipeline, she’s made it clear she has no qualms about sacrificing well-paying blue collar jobs in pursuit of the radical left’s climate agenda.
Haaland has also claimed that “climate change in the U.S. started when Europeans arrived and started killing the buffalo.” I wonder where that notion ranks among the thinkers of the party that claims to always put science first.
Next on our list we have Xavier Becerra, Biden’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Having no health care experience, he’s a bizarre pick to run HHS as the country tackles the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to his lack of experience in the field, he has a record of weaponizing his positions in government to achieve radical political goals, including threatening business owners with prosecution should they cooperate with ICE officers as California’s attorney general.
Another left-wing pick is Neera Tanden, the Hillary Clinton loyalist with a reputation for hostility and unprofessional conduct. Tanden is so toxic that Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has indicated his opposition to her confirmation and, amid growing controversy about her nomination, two Senate Committees have postponed votes on her confirmation.
It’s becoming clearer and clearer by the day that Neera Tanden should not be in charge of the federal budget, Xavier Becerra should not be in charge of our nation’s health care system and COVID-19 response, and Deb Haaland should not be making decisions about our natural resources. The Senate should reject these three nominations without delay.
In addition to the radicals with a penchant for abusing their power for political ends, we have a swath of D.C. swamp creatures who embody the very concept of the “revolving door.”
Janet Yellen, confirmed as Biden’s Treasury Secretary, has financial ties to the industry she’s responsible for regulating, having made millions on Wall Street and corporate speeches. Antony Blinken, Biden’s Secretary of State, co-founded a D.C. consulting firm that hires senior government officials to use their insider knowledge to advise business and investment decisions. Another cabinet pick -Avril Haines, who is Biden’s National Intelligence Director – is also a former member of the same firm. Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security, was the subject of an inspector general report which found that he used his position in the Obama Administration to intervene on behalf of foreign investors with ties to top Democrats. All of these Biden confidants have made a career out of hopping in and out of government, cashing in on their contacts and insider knowledge.
Lastly, we have John Kerry. While not officially a member of the cabinet, he is yet another example of how Biden is using his political appointments to reward establishment Democrats and implement his job-killing agenda. Who better embodies the swamp than the climate alarmist who tells us we’ll all be dead in less than a decade unless we go full Green New Deal, all from the comfort of his carbon-spewing private jet?
There’s clearly much to be investigated and discussed about this cabinet of swamp creatures. In his picks, Joe Biden has signaled his return to a previous era where establishment politicians use their influence to enrich themselves at the expense of the American taxpayer or otherwise use their position to impose radical policies that harm the public.
The biased mainstream media has made it apparent that they have no interest in covering this administration objectively.
